Australia India Universities Youth Forum (AIUYF)

The Australia India Universities Youth Forum (AIUYF) is an initiative of IDP Education Australia Ltd, an Australian organisation owned by 38 Australian universities.

The AIUYF is a two-week educational forum for Australian and Indian undergraduate students, and focuses on the issues of sustainability, with a particular emphasis on leadership.

Participants are involved in an intensive program of interactive workshops, presentations, lectures and fieldwork.

Forum participants are selected from Australian and Indian universities, based on a demonstrated interest in sustainability, leadership ability and an outstanding academic background.

2009 AIUYF Program

The 2009 AIUYF will be held in India (New Delhi and Ahmadabad) in July 2009.

How to apply

Australian and Indian undergraduate students will be selected to participate in the 2009 AIUYF and must meet the following criteria to apply:

• Must be completing third year (or higher) of an undergraduate degree in 2009
• Must provide evidence of above average academic achievement
• Must submit evidence of leadership experience and aptitude (i.e. references, training certificates)
• Must submit a personal statement providing evidence of a strong interest in sustainability/environmental issues, and evidence of involvement in sustainability/environmental initiatives through either study and/or personal activities

2008 AIUYF Program

The 2008 AIUYF was held over two weeks in June and July in Sydney, Canberra, outback Australia and Darwin. A two-week program was designed to provide participants with an increased knowledge of the key issues of sustainability, including sustainability leadership training.

The participants of the 2008 AIUYF developed the “Australia India Sustainability Protocol” – a statement of how Australians and Indians can work together to create a more sustainable world. The protocol is available for download here
